To compare which fillers in different materials in your application give what effect on the overall density, start with your reference formulation and use other recipe columns to adjust polymer and filler contents. Vary ingredients to directly find out how density and part weight changes per compound formulation.
The "Replace" column calculates the volume of 3M Glass Bubbles required to substitute existing filler in a known formulation.
Based on individual data you have provided, an analysis will be shown how the density changes and behaves - as a graph and in form of a table.
This column calculates an approximate weight percentage of 3M™ Glass Bubbles that could replace an existing filler in your reference formulation while maintaining the same filler volume percentage.
Choose polymer and filler ingredients for your reference formulation, then select a grade of 3M™ Glass Bubbles to serve as a possible replacement for the filler. Click the button for the filler you wish to replace, and a new formulation incorporating 3M™ Glass Bubbles will be calculated.
This example formulation will be included in the graph and table below.
Note: This tool only evaluates the impact of material density with the addition of 3M™ Glass Bubbles. Replacing fillers may have other impacts on material properties besides density. If you have questions or need help, please contact a 3M expert.
